The global modernization of the energy sector affects Republic of N. Macedonia as well. The efforts to restructure the production and usage of green energy i.e. renewable sources energy, has been intensified in our country.
The governmental renewable energy source Action plan estimates that their usage in the total energy consumption in Macedonia will be 2% by 2020, 25% by 2025 and 28% by 2030.
Regarding other countries in this region, the green energy usage in the total energy consumption in Bulgaria is 19%, Montenegro 51%, Albania 86%, Serbia 29%, Greece 24%, Croatia has 47% and Slovenia has a usage rate of 32%. (Eurostat 2018).
Renewable energy sources are involved in 26% of the world’s total electrical energy, but according to the International Energy Agency (IEA) those numbers are expected to increase to 30% in 2024. “This is a crucial time for renewable energy”, said the executive director of the IEA, Fatih Birol.
The number of renewable energy sources is expected to continue growing because there is an overall demand for energy. This will also lead to the reduction of the costs for renewable energy sources, which is great for the Planet but also great regarding the economical savings of individuals and companies.
