The textile industry, although not very profitable, is very important for the country’s export. A lot of clothing production capacities are built more than 50 years ago, but textile is an important industrial branch in the last 30 years. In the period after the independence, a lot of the companies were gradually privatized and, in time, they got embedded in the transnational chain of supply. Now they produce clothing for the European markets with more than 90% working on lines of products for other companies, and only a small number of them have their own brands.
With over 1100 actively included companies in different levels of the production process, the textile industry is one of the most developed sectors of the economy in North Macedonia, the data shows. This industry has 34000 employees and an export value of over 400 million euros. The companies in this sector are globally known as a loyal and professional partner for a wide range of world-renowned brands.
But, the reality shows that even our textile industry is not and can not be an exception from digital transformation which is considered to be the future and can reliable be accepted as an innovative trend. Local experts agreed that the digitalization with modern technological solutions will inevitably help improve productivity, efficiency and the achievement of business goals with reduced usage of time and resources.
